Since 1851, Costa Rica and the United States have managed to establish a close relationship. Both nations are deeply committed to policies that promote democratic stability, education, combat drug trafficking, promote human rights and preserve the environment.

Please explore this website to learn more about Costa Rica, and to find practical information for traveling, studying, and doing business in our country.

Those Costa Ricans who are in the United States will be able to easily find answers to their questions and prepare the necessary documents for their required procedures, such as renewal of identification cards, passports, authentication of documents and travel permits for minors, and also register on our Consular Registry.

Tourists can  find in the Consular Section under visas guidelines for traveling to Costa Rica, while at the same time we recommend visiting for tourist information.

We also invite investors and business people to learn about the opportunities offered by Costa Rica, such as skilled labor, a high literacy rate and a wide spectrum of export products. We invite you to visit our Business section, where you will find information for doing business in Costa Rica.

For students or researchers wishing to experience our country, there are four public universities and nearly forty private universities, many of which have international recognition. Also highly regarded are the College of Agriculture of the Humid Tropical Region (EARTH), the Tropical Agricultural Research and Training Center (CATIE), the Biodiversity Institute (INBio) and the University for Peace (sponsored by the United Nations).
